Workers' Compensation
The Springfield lawyers at Placzek, Winget & Placzek represent employees who have been injured in work-related accidents.
A work-related injury is a traumatic experience.
If you are injured on the job or have been exposed to occupational disease in your work, you may be entitled to compensation under the Missouri Workers' Compensation law.
Missouri law requires most employers to carry insurance, which pays for medical treatment and lost time benefits for employees who are injured on the job.

What is the Workers’ Compensation Law?
The workers’ compensation law, found in Chapter 287 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, controls the rights and obligations of employees and employers when employees sustain an accident or occupational disease in the course and scope of their employment.
Who is Covered by Workers’ Compensation?
Any employer with five or more employees, and all employers in the construction industry, are required to provide protection for their employees under the Missouri Workers’ Compensation Law. Most employers do this by purchasing workers’ compensation insurance. Some employers gain approval to self-insure their workers’ compensation liability. If your employer has five or more employees, or if your employer is in the construction industry and has even one employee, it is required to either obtain insurance coverage or become authorized as a self-insured.
